Pre-Requisite Documents for Urgent / Normal Passport

i For ages 18 & above

1. Evidencing proof of prescribed passport fee payment, through Original Bank Paid Fee Challan (receipt) or e-Payment Confirmation Detail (Receipt/SMS/Email along with PSID No.)
2. Original Valid CNIC/NICOP with a photocopy.
3. Previous Passport in original with its photocopy, (if issued).
4. NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the concerned department in case of government, semi-government or autonomous body employees.
5. Foreign Passport along with its photocopy, (for Dual-Nationals only).
6. In case of a Lost passport, bring a Lost passport Police report mentioning the previous passport number.

ii For ages under 18 / Minor

1. Evidencing proof of prescribed passport fee payment, through Original Bank Paid Fee Challan (receipt) or e-Payment Confirmation Detail (Receipt/SMS/Email along with PSID No.)
2. Original Child Registration Certificate(CRC/Form"B") or FRC (Family Registration Certificate) or Smart Card with one photocopy.
3. Original valid CNICs or Passports of both Parents along with photocopies. (Reference: Passport Rules 2021)
4. The Minor will be accompanied by either of his/her parent or legal guardian appointed by the court of law, along with the original valid CNIC/NICOP of the parent/guardian.
5. In case parents are separated/divorced, bring custody papers granted by the Court of Law.
6. In case the parents of the minor are divorced or separated and the application for a passport is submitted by either of the parents, in respect of the minor. Explicit permission will be required for the issuance of a passport, in the shape of the other parent's physical presence, or through his/her consent on duly attested non-judicial stamp paper.(Reference: Passport Rules 2021)
7. In the case of a guardian, bring a guardianship certificate, issued by the court of law and the appointed Guardian will visit the Passport office personally with the minor, along with his/her original CNIC and its photocopy.
8. Foreign Passport along with its photocopy, (for Dual Nationals only).
9. In case either of the parent is deceased, his/her original Death Certificate along with a photocopy.
10. In case of a Lost passport, bring a Lost passport Police report mentioning the previous passport number.

Note: The delivery time taken by the courier company is not included in the above-mentioned time frame, for remote areas within Pakistan & Pakistani Missions abroad.

Note: An E-mail/SMS will be sent to applicant upon dispatch of Passport from Production facility, however applicant can also track it through SMS or by calling Helpline No. Passports are shipped within prescribed time however it may take additional time to reach their destination i.e. respective Regional Passport Office (RPO) or Foreign Mission (FM).

The Government of Pakistan has revised the Machine Readable Passport (MRP) fee under the Fast Track Category effective from 08-05-2024, as outlined below:

• The enhanced Passport fee will be realized w.e.f. 08-05-2024.
• All Passport applications made on or after 08-05-2024 will be admitted against the enhanced Fast Track Passport Fee.
• In the cases where the fee was deposited before 08-05-2024 at old rates and the passport application is made on or after 08-05-2024, the difference will invariably be realized and the Passport applications be entertained only on realization of the Passport Fee on the enhanced rates.

2- Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) Fee

The Government of Pakistan has revised the Machine Readable Passport (MRP) fee effective from 07-03-2024, as outlined below:

• The enhanced Passport fee will be realized w.e.f. 07-03-2024.
• All Passport applications made on or after 07-03-2024 will be admitted against the enhanced passport fee.
• In the case where the fee was deposited before 07-03-2024 at old rates and the passport application is made on or after 07-03-2024, the difference will invariably be realized and the passport application be entertained only on realization of the passport fee on the enhanced rate.

Note: For Executive Passport Offices (EPOs) and Passport Processing Counters (PPCs), additional service charges required by NADRA will have to be payable separately at the concerned EPO or PPC, in addition to the prescribed passport fee paid through Passport Fee Asaan Mobile App / Web Portal.

3- e-Passport Fee

Note: From August 16, 2023, the e-Passport issuance facility, is available from all field offices across the country.

Important Instructions

The following conditions are mandatory for applying the e-Passport at RPOs :

• First Name and Last Name are Required
• First Name allowed up to 50 characters
• Last Name allowed up to 40 characters
• Relative (Father/Husband/Guardian) Name allowed up to 40 characters

Passport Application Process

After submitting Prescribed Passport Fee for passport, the applicant will go through the following stages at Regional Passport Office (RPO) for obtaining Machine Readable Passport (MRP): read more.

NOTE: Before arrival at the Regional Passport Office (RPO), the Original paid Bank Challan receipt or e-Payment Confirmation Detail (Receipt/SMS/Email along with PSID No. generated via Passport Fee Asaan Mobile App / Web Portal) must be acquired, by depositing the prescribed Passport Fee, which can be paid through any 1-Link member bank branches (including National Bank of Pakistan) / ATMs / Internet banking / JazzCash / Easypaisa by using the 1 Bill Option.

• Arrival of Applicant at Customer Service Counter.
• Fee Verification + Capturing of Photograph + Token Issuance
• Biometrics / Finger Prints capture.
• Data Entry.
• Verification as per Office Record. (ECL/BL)
• Interview and Decision by Assistant Director.
• Passport Delivery (Collection of Passport)

Renewal of Passport

• Under Passport & Visa Manual 2006, there is no restriction for renewal of passport before its expiry.
• Passport having full validity of 5/10 years can be issued to the applicants even if existing passport has not completed its validity.
• However, a statement mentioning the reason for obtaining a new passport before its expiry may be obtained from the applicant.
• The applicant may visit the relevant passport office along with required documents for renewal of his/her passport. The existing passport will be returned to the applicant after taking necessary action.

Passport Modification / Changes of Particulars

• The applicant can apply for a passport to modify his/her name, father name, date of birth etc.
• For it, he has to get his CNIC/NICOP revise/modify first. After getting it, he may visit the passport office along with the required documents.
• In case of doubt about the age of any applicant, the issuing authority may call documentary evidence such as birth certificate issued by municipalities or other local bodies, or matriculation certificate of recognized Universities or Boards.

Note: However cases of change of name, father name and date of birth altogether will be forwarded by the Regional Passport Office/Foreign Mission to Directorate General Immigration & Passports, Islamabad for approval.

Lost Passport

Passport, when reported Lost

In case of the loss of passport following formalities will be completed:

• Police report to be lodged with the concerned police station.
• Requisite fee as per nature of loss i.e. 1 st time loss, 2 nd time loss to be deposited in the Bank.

Guidelines for Lost Passport

• In case the passport is lost, the Police Report mentioning previous lost passport number will be required.
• The lost Machine-readable Passport number can be acquired from the nearest Regional Passport Office by filing written application, if required, along with CNIC/NICOP copies or CRC (in case of minor).
• In case of 1st-time loss, the double fee would be charged for passport, on second-time loss, it shall be quadruple. For the Fee, schedule click here.
• If the applicant is living abroad and he has lost his passport third time and the Pakistan Mission abroad feels that the applicant is gainfully employed and applicant’s request needs consideration, the Pakistan Mission will refer the case to Directorate General Immigration and Passports for further orders.

Third Time Lost: The Regional Passport Offices in Pakistan will refer 3rd-time loss cases to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Islamabad for seeking further advice/approval.

Note: In case of emergency, Pakistan’s Mission Abroad will issue emergency travel document (ETD) for returning to Pakistan, with an intimation to DGI&P.

Damaged Passport / Exhausted Pages

Passport against damaged would be issued subject to submission of prescribed fee and production of required documents.

If you are a frequent traveler and pages on your passport are exhausted then you can apply for a fresh passport. You have the choice to choose 36 pages, 72 pages and 100 pages passport depending upon your requirement, however, you have to pay an extra fee for 72 pages passport and 100 pages passport. For more information regarding fees see passport fee section. Passport against Pages exhausted would be issued subject to submission of prescribed fee and production of required documents.
